A new long-stay visa has been introduced by Mauritius, the Indian Ocean paradise, to meet the increasing demand from foreign tourists looking to move to the COVID-secure island for work, leisure or retirement.

The visa application is open to all nationalities seeking a long-term temporary residence solution while the world is dealing with the pandemic.


The new Premium Visa is valid for one year, with a renewal option.

Mauritius has been widely lauded for its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of one of the most stringent national arrival testing provisions in the world. The country is now seen as an ideal long-term relocation destination as it offers a healthy environment in conjunction with fiscal, political and legal stability.

For a long time, Mauritius has been a favourite of retirees, mostly from South Africa, France, Germany, the UK and other European countries, looking for a second home that offers world-class recreational facilities, homes and activities. The Premium Visa provides long-term security for this group of visitors to relocate to a Covid-secure destination and maximise their retirement.

Residents in Mauritius are allowed to buy property under specific investment programmes, including luxury villas, penthouses, apartments and duplexes.

Mauritius has a fully functioning Indian Ocean base in a time zone that is suitable for working remotely with Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. It is a well-known infrastructure centre for finance, financial and legal services.
