After an extremely long phase of tourism being thwarted by the coronavirus outbreak, Meghalaya has opened its gates to visitors and tourist from December 21, 2020. Tourism in Meghalaya came to a halt around March 2020 when the country faced a nationwide lockdown.
For those, who are planning to visit Meghalaya, remember that all safety guidelines and the SOP’s have to be strictly followed. It's also mandatory for those visiting the state to download the Meghalaya Tourism app. Tourists can enter the state only when they generate an e-invite.
The e-invite is for those who plan to stay for a minimum of two days, while those putting up with family/friends in Meghalaya have to register with all their details. A negative COVID-19 test report and the e-invite have to be shown at all entry points, alongwith a complete itinerary has to be shown too.
Meghalaya has also added a new infiltration checkpoint to check the influx of illegal immigrants. The facilitation center will be fully functional 24 hours*7 days. The tourists as well as the residents of the state are supposed to check in at the infiltration checkpoint.
