Travelling virtually has probably been one of the most unexpected trends of 2020. Regardless, it has also been the most common one owing to the current pandemic. The latest to jump into the boat of armchair travel, is the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival.
The annual culinary bonanza, organised by Honk Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), will include both offline and online experiences. The event aims to indulge wine lovers and gourmets. As opposed to the usual four days, the festival this year—which began on November 11—will run for 5 weeks.
This year’s line up is different and includes a variety of activities ranging from masterclasses to auctions. The public can also visit the festival’s website to buy wine and gourmet food. Those choosing to dine-in have a difficult choice to make, as over 500 restaurants are taking part in the festival, including Michelin-starred establishments serving the menus at up to half the price.
Their Online Wine Cellar also has over 100 wine merchants with numerous discounts and half-price offers on select products. Additionally, there are also 15 weekly selected offers that one should keep an eye out for.
The festival’s ‘Gourmet at Home’ menus for home delivery and pick up services have menus curated by top-tier hotels and restaurants. What’s more you ask? Customers of the first 50 orders of each set / menu will also receive a complimentary bottle of French wine and a set of six wine glasses, on top of enjoying free delivery (only when the option is available).
As for the masterclasses there is an option to pre-order the tasting or cooking kits and those who purchase them also have an option to interact with the ‘masters.’ The online auctions will be organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Wine & Spirits each week with a different theme, beginning from November 14 until December 11.
