Although numerous major art events across the world have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, art aficionados in India have something to cheer about. The officials at the Kochi Biennale Foundation have just announced that the fifth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) will begin on December 12, 2020, as scheduled.
It may be one of the newest art biennales, but the event has already made a mark on the global art scene. Each edition of the KMB has brought visitors from around the world to Kochi. The event takes place across an eclectic mix of 11-14 venues in Kochi, including heritage warehouses and spice godowns.
Preparations had been halted due to the pandemic. However, the advisory committee of the biennale has decided to go ahead with the upcoming edition. The event will begin on December 12 and go on for the full four months till April 2021, and will follow all pandemic-related safety norms.
