The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently gave ex-post facto approval to the Memorandum of Understanding between India and Paraguay for strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism.

The MoU aims to expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector, allow exchange of information and data on tourism, encourage cooperation between the stakeholders in the business like hotels and tour operators, promote investment in tourism and hospitality sectors, establish exchange programs for cooperation in human resource management, promote two-way tourism by conducting exchange programs for tour operators, media and opinion-makers, organise travel fairs and exhibitions in the two countries and promote responsible and sustainable tourism.

It is expected that the MoU will help the two nations in setting up an institutional mechanism so as to boost tourism cooperation. The objective is to increase the footfall of tourists from Paraguay, which will result in economic development and employment generation. Another benefit of the MoU is that it will create favourable conditions for stakeholders so as to enable long-term cooperation in the field of travel and tourism.

Keeping in view, the recent developments, it is expected that the MoU will yield positive results and strengthen ties between India and Paraguay.
