The Shangri-La Group has announced the reopening of their luxury property in Colombo, which, along with two other hotels, had suffered extensive damage in the April 21 suicide attack. The five star property in the capital had remained closed after the bombings, but will resume operations from Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

In a statement, the company expressed their gratitude to local authorities and the international community for their continued support in the past seven weeks, and admired the strength and selflessness of the Sri Lankan community. “Our heartfelt sympathies and support continue to be with those who have suffered injuries and lost loved ones,” they said.

The hotel’s popular dining establishments, including Capital Bar & Grill, Sapphyr Lounge, and Kaema Sutra, will also reopen on June 12 from 6pm. However, room stays and visits to Chi, the Spa, will only commence June 15 onwards.
