Over the years, Singapore's Changi Airport has come to be known as the lifestyle and leisure hub for travellers. Now, with the newest Jewel Changi Airport opening on April 17, 2019, Singapore will truly stamp its authority as the leading airhub of the region and the choicest transit hub among international travellers. Designed by Moshe Safdie and featuring a one-of-a-kind dome-shaped glass and steel facade, the airport will create a world where nature and retail come together cohesively. Lush green gardens, unique dining options, accommodation facilities and so much more are on offer. We bring you four things to look forward to at Singapore's latest Jewel:

World’s largest indoor waterfall

The Jewel’s most notable feature is that it boasts of the world’s largest indoor waterfall. Called the Rain Vortex, it stands at an impressive height of 40 metres or 131 feet. Not only does the Rain Vortex act as a symbolic attraction, the water is used for internal services, irrigation and also as a cooling source for the interior of the structure.

An indoor forest

It is a known fact that Singapore is touted as the ‘Garden City’ and already has the iconic Gardens by the Bay. The Jewel has created a sprawling indoor forest which is a tropical four-story garden with over a 1000 trees and palms, over 100,000 shrubs imported from different countries all over the world and flowers. Best place to take a breather during transit? Indeed!

The canopy park

Set to open in the month of June, the Canopy Park will have a walkway with sculptures of animals, birds, and floral structures along with mirror mazes and themed gardens. Adventurous souls can try the 164-foot long bridge to be rewarded with sparkling views of the indoor forest and the Rain Vortex. There will be suspended nets where people of all ages can bounce around and also walk on above the ground level.

Retail therapy

Boasting over 400 retail stores, Emack & Bolio’s, Lavender, OYSHO and Pokémon Center Singapore are just few of the many international brands that will open their first stores alongside homegrown brands such as In Good Company, Supermama, and Tiger Street Lab. Established brands are said to offer new concepts to travellers while one can also purchase exclusive Jewel merchandise. And if you want to take a piece of Singapore back home, there is going to be an entire floor dedicated to Singaporean retailers from where you can choose what you want to buy. Also for foodies, dining is going to be a mouthwatering affair with world cuisines to choose from among 140 outlets. Don't worry, the number of dining options will increase.

With the Jewel having almost everything you need or want on offer, it is time you see it for yourself. Did you know that Jewel is connected to all three of the terminals? So, what are you waiting for?
