Mumbai: India's First Pod Hotel

Mumbaikars, a curiosity comes to town. The intriguing, and mildly intimidating, ‘pod hotel’ is now in your city and it’s called Urbanpod. The picture describes it best; and if your instinctive reaction is a claustrophobic flinching, you may as well avoid it. But adventurous, curious and budget-strapped folks, go check out the experience of being cocooned in a little cubbyhole that fits you on a bed and precious little else. Quite literally—even your baggage will be housed outside your pod in a locker. For approx. ₹2,000 for a Classic Pod, you get: a comfy bed to yourself, clean sheets, duvet and towel, hangers and clothes rack, a TV, two USB ports, a power socket, ‘mood lighting’, free Wifi and free hot breakfast. Shared facilities: the use of clean bathrooms and all-day light dining at the cafeteria. The Private Pod (approx. ₹2,200) gives you all of this plus some space to do a bit more than clamber onto the bed. The Suite (approx. ₹2,600 single/₹3,000 double) has a queen bed that sleeps two as well as a window, and a table and chair. The Ladies Only Pods feature Classic Pods in a ladies only area.
