6 Most Colourful City-Vistas In The World

Stykkishólmur, Iceland

First and foremost, the whole town of Stykkishólmur has free Wi-Fi. Now that that is out of the way, you should know that this harbour town boasts of having kept weather records of Iceland since 1845. Stykkishólmur is named after a small island, Stykkið, or the piece right in front of the Stykkishólmur harbour. And a person from Stykkishólmur is called Hólmari. The people are very environmentally conscious, and therefore plastic bags are banned here. They love their sports too, especially basketball, and their team, called Snæfell, is one of the best in Iceland. Copenhagen, Denmark

With its state-of-the-art metro and status as the best bike city in the world, the capital city of Denmark, Copenhagen, is also recognised as the UNESCO-UIA-World Capital of Architecture. The city received this recognition for its strong legacy of architecture and innovative urban development and its ambitious targets for climate, sustainability solutions, and liveability.

Burano Island, Venetian Lagoon, Italy

Traditionally famous for the delicate lace handcrafted on Burano, this island in the Northern Venetian Lagoon, Venice, Italy, has gained fame for its colourful residential and commercial structures. The most well-known painted house here is the la Casa di Bepi Suà, or the house of Joseph Sweaty, which is covered with multi-hued geometric patterns. On Burano-island, you will also find glass artefacts similar in technique to the ones found on its neighbouring island, Murano. A 45-minute boat ride from Venice will take you to Burano in time for a meal of delicious fish-based delicacies, which it is famous for.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

A vision in azure, Chefchaouen, built on the side of the Rif Mountains, is a heritage city brimming with attractions. Walk along the winding alleys of the medina to taste Moroccan delights, such as freshly baked bread and expertly cooked tagines. Head to the red-walled fortress of Kasbah, in the old quarter, for its lush gardens. Its ethnographic museum houses ancient weapons, textiles, and photographs. Chefchaouen is heaven for hikers and trekkers, as the mountainous regions offer many routes and related activities.

Havana, Cuba

The capital city of Cuba, Havana, is filled with music, tradition, culture, monuments and natural attractions. Located in the western side of Cuba, its Old Havana district has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. Havana remains one of the largest cities in the Caribbean region, and its deep-sea bay made the city a prime location for economic development.

Jodhpur, India

Colourful, vibrant Rajasthan boasts of a couple of stunning cities, and the beautiful city of Jodhpur, with its indigo-blue buildings, is one of them. The second largest city in Rajasthan is also called the Blue City, as most of the architecture is washed in blue. Rising over the city like the guardian of old that it is, the eight-gate fortress of Mehrangarh forms the ideal backdrop to the sapphire-hued city. Jodhpur is also famous as the only place where the rare breed of horse, known as Marwari or Malani, can be found.
