India is a country that offers a diverse range of stargazing experiences, from the rugged terrain of Ladakh to the golden sands of Jaisalmer, from the lush greenery of Coorg to the coastal town of Kanyakumari. Ladakh: If you are looking for an out-of-this-world stargazing experience, Ladakh is the place to be. Located in the northernmost part of India, Ladakh is known for its clear skies and high altitude, making it an ideal spot for stargazing. You can spot the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy; if you are lucky, you might even spot a shooting star.

Getting there: The closest airport is located in the town of Leh, called the Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport.

Jaisalmer: Jaisalmer is a city located in the state of Rajasthan, famous for its golden fort and sand dunes. But it is also a great place for stargazing. The city is surrounded by the Thar Desert, making it a perfect place for a clear night sky view. You can see constellations like Orion, Taurus, and the Pleiades.

Getting there: The nearest airport to Jaisalmer is Jodhpur Airport. It is roughly 300 km away.

Coorg: Coorg is a hill station located in the state of Karnataka, known for its lush greenery and coffee plantations. But it is also a great place for stargazing. The town is located in the Western Ghats, giving it a clear night sky view. You can see Scorpio, Sagittarius, and the Southern Cross.

Getting there: The nearest airport to Coorg is Mangalore airport, which is approximately 135 km away.

Spiti Valley: Spiti Valley is a remote valley located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, known for its rugged terrain and high altitude. It is a great place for stargazing due to its high altitude and clear skies. You can see the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy, and the Orion Nebula.

Getting there: The nearest domestic airport is in Bhuntar, near Kullu, 245 km away from the same.

Kanyakumari: Kanyakumari is a coastal town located in the southernmost part of India, known for its beautiful beaches and temples. But it is also a great place for stargazing. The town is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, which gives it a clear view of the night sky. You can see constellations like the Big Dipper, Cassiopeia, and the North Star.

Getting there: The nearest airports to Kanyakumari are Trivandrum international airport and the domestic Tuticorin airport. Both of these airports are located at a distance of around 82 km and 89 km from Kanyakumari, respectively.
