Located on the border between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, this stunning brackish water lagoon is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Besides spotting rare wildlife, there are plenty of inlets and lagoons around this lake that make boating around it a popular activity. It is also an excellent spot for fishing, whether you’re an experienced angler or a beginner looking to try your hand at something new.

Migratory Birds of Pulicat

Pulicat: A Dutch Colony

For history buffs, the area around Pulicat Lake is steeped in rich cultural heritage. The town of Pulicat was once a Dutch colony and there are still several colonial-era buildings and monuments in the area. The Dutch Cemetery, which dates back to the 17th century, is a fascinating glimpse into the region’s colonial past. This has resulted in a blend of cultures and traditions. Visitors to the area can experience the unique food, music, and customs of both states, making it a truly unique and immersive travel experience.

But perhaps the most attractive thing about Pulicat Lake is the sense of peace and tranquility that it offers. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the lake is a place where you can truly connect with nature and disconnect from the stresses of everyday life.

The best time to visit is between October and March, when migratory birds arrive in droves.
