Dhaninallah Walk, The Andamans

Said to be the longest in India, the 1km-long wooden boardwalk in Dhaninallah goes over several mangrove creeks before weaving into the stunning Dhaninallah beach, which is known as a hatching area for sea turtles. Explore the biodiverse mangrove ecosystems, hang out at the beach, stop at the small eco hut (it's called the Olive Ridley, named after the urtle species), and take in the views. The beach has several sit-out areas, and changing rooms, if you want to swim. The nesting season for turtles is from December to February.

Sharavathi Kandla Mangrove Boardwalk, Honnavara

This wooden path winds its way through the Sharavathi River and mangroves. At around 1.5 kilometres, a very narrow wooden walkway leads you over an area that resembles an island in the middle of a mangrove forest. Display boards showcase information about the fauna and flora in the area. The nearby Kasarkod Eco Beach has several food options, if you get hungry after the walk. Another interesting thing to look out for is the Mavinakurve Rail Tunnel through the Sharavathi river.

Where: The boardwalk is about 3 kms from Honnavara city center, opposite the Eco beach, in Uttarakannada district of Karnataka
