Some spots encapsulate a city’s essence with vibrant neon street lights, colourful buildings or unique architecture. These spots become the face of the particular city and a hit on our Instagram grids. Whether you are travelling to a European country known for its jazzy culture or an Asian city remembered for its thriving wild nightlife–each has a street that transports you to a completely different world that solely belongs to that city and nowhere else. Here are a few roads around the globe known for their unique charm that you must walk through at least once in your life 
  
Rue Wellington, Montreal 
 
Lined with some of the best restaurants, charming bars, quaint cafes and family-friendly spots, there is more than one reason why it was touted as the world’s coolest street. A walk through this 1.3 km stretch feels like you may be in a colourful carnival. The best time to visit is from June to mid-September, when many cultural festivals are held, and it becomes a pedestrian-only street.

Kolokotroni Street, Athens 
 
Centrally located in a city with deep culture and history, this street packs lots of cool vibes. Although it has all the excellent restaurants and bars that should be on your must-visit list, the road is best known for its amazing bookstores. You are sure to find many unique experiences for keeps.

Kagurazaka Street, Tokyo 
 
Tucked beside another famous spot named Shinjuku, this alley is set apart by its French influence. Here, you would come across many French restaurants, cafes, schools, and a shrine known as Akagi Jinja. Therefore, you can experience the magical melange of multiple cultures on a walk through this quaint street. The best time to visit here is on the fourth Saturday and Sunday of July when the Kagurazaka Awa Odori Festival takes place.

Everton Road, Singapore 
 
Walking through this street feels like walking through a rainbow. Be it blue, yellow, green, or orange and red–you would find a house painted in every colour. With many pre-war shophouses still existing and joints serving traditional food, you are bound to get a glimpse of Singapore’s history and culture here. If you’re visiting Singapore, do not miss out on spending a day just roaming about this colourful street.
