When Mumbai-based baker Neysa Mendes decided to contribute for COVID-19 relief as the second wave of the pandemic raged through the country, she fell back on what she did best – bake. On her Instagram page (Good Slice), she announced a fund-raiser plan. That she was putting up 10 of her special dark chocolate tarts for sale and the entire amount would go to an NGO that was providing food and oxygen to the affected people. It took her just an hour to conclude the sale under #BakeForIndia.

Encouraged by the response, she invited other chefs and bakers to pledge 10 units of their products for sale and donate the entire amount raised to a verified charity working towards COVID-19 relief. They were free to choose the charities they wanted to donate to. She set some basic guidelines for the participants.

It was April end. Almost a fortnight later, it has turned into a veritable movement with chefs and bakers from across the country and even abroad participating in the fund raiser.

But do note, the fundraisers are held for a short duration and products get booked fast. Most accept only pre-orders (announced on their digital media platforms). Do remember to check areas served, mode of delivery/pick-up, and delivery charges involved.

Here is a list of some of the bakers/chefs currently participating in the #bakeforindia fund raiser. Or, you can also follow @goodslice on Instagram where Mendes provides a list containing details of ongoing sales.
