Indonesia offers Visa on Arrival to Indian tourists, is that still valid? Will the requirements for the visa change once travel restrictions have eased?

Visa policy including VoA for Indians will be updated and informed by the Government of Indonesia when the borders reopen for foreign visitors/tourists. Thus far, the Indonesian government has been focusing on the readiness of tourist destination first before deciding the VoA and/or other related policies and regulations.

What is the situation in Indonesia right now?

The state of tourism is still under emergency response stage until June continuously being determined by the Indonesian Task Force since March. If the condition improves, it will be followed by a recovery period from July to December 2020. The normalisation period is projected to start early next year 2021. But the situation is being closely monitored and will be adjusted and updated accordingly.

We would much rather be in Bali right now

How open is the country to foreign tourists? What changes in tourism can we expect in the future?

As for now, for the time being, the country is closed to foreign visitors and tourists of all nationalities. Only domestic flights and international cargo are allowed. International flights for the sake of repatriation are also permitted. The government will evaluate the condition from time to time. At present, large scale social distancing has been applied in some provinces and regions. Thus, the condition is still a concern for now.

Are we looking at things like health passports, quarantine requirements or COVID-19 tests when visiting?

What has been in process and in progress is the implementation of CHS Clean Health & Safety protocol in tourist destinations including Bali as one of the main destinations expected to recover first. In this regard, we want to have a guarantee that not only the destination is ready, but also that the visitors and tourists are. Therefore, proper documents related to health checks may also be applied as necessary.
