Akin to a sort of virtual ‘Live Aid’, BBC Radio One have decided to organise a collaboration among various artists, featuring some of the biggest names in music today, like Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding, and more to come together and play a cover of Foo Fighters’ track ‘Times Like These’ using household utensils and acoustic guitars.

Dubbing it, ‘The Big Night In’, the British broadcaster will debut the track at 12 PM GMT (5:30 PM IST) on Thursday, 23rd April, on their a special, ‘stay home’ edition of their ‘Live Lounge’ programme, and subsequently release the track as a single available to stream and download. The proceeds of the track from within Britain will go towards charities, ‘Comic Relief’ and ‘Children in Need’ while the global earnings will go to the World Health  Organization’s COVID-19 Solitary Response Fund.

The single will be played by these prolific artists on an assortment of household items as they themselves stay indoors in self-isolation. The track will be put together and produced by Fraiser T. Smith, whose illustrious career has seen him work with the likes of Adele, Stormzy, and Sam Smith.

Speaking to The Guardian, Smith said that the intention behind the performance with pots and pans is to “honour the brilliance and honesty of the artists and song.” The choice of song is especially apt given the social distancing people are being forced to practice, as the chorus provides much needed affirmation that, “It’s times like these we learn to live again.”

The full catalogue of artists set to perform is:

5 Seconds of Summer, AJ Tracey, Anne-Marie, Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Celeste, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Dermot Kennedy, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding, Grace Carter, Hailee Steinfeld, Jess Glynne, Mabel, Paloma Faith, Rag’n’Bone Man, Rita Ora, Royal Blood, Sam Fender, Sean Paul, Sigrid, Yungblud, Zara Larsson.
