Binge watching your favorite show and munching on your favorite snack sounds like a great idea. But what if you could actually be at the locations where your fave pop culture flick was shot? That Hawkins’ Lab from Stranger Things, or maybe Thor’s home from Endgame. If the pop culture buff in you gets excited at that thought, we might be able to help. We give you 7 pop culture travel destinations you should head to in 2020 to get a real-time experience just like your fave characters:

CHERNOBYL, UKRAINE (Chernobyl)

Based on the nuclear accident in Chernobyl, this show had gained immense popularity. The series was short and crisp, and featured some stunning cinematography. Though  the show was not filmed in Lithuana you can actually visit the real Chernobyl. Take the various walking tours that happen during the day. If you wish to stay the night, there is a small hotel which is safe. It was not possible to shoot here as the camera equipment was sensitive to radiation.  We suggest you be careful with the amount of time you spend here.

DUBROVNIK, CROATIA (Game of Thrones)
Apart from a great screenplay, Game of Thrones won hearts because of all the locations it was shot at. Though the last season might have been disappointing to some, the Croatian city of Dubrovnik will surely make up for all the lost love. This was King's Landing, and the location saw some major shoots from the second season. Most of the locations are in the Old City and almost adjacent to each other. We suggest you take out a whole day and do a walking tour. Some of the locations are also situated on the outskirts of the city which are easily accessible by public transport.

ST. ABBS, SCOTLAND (Avengers: Endgame)
The quaint fishing village of New Asgard might be a fictional one but the shoot location is as real as it gets. Thor’s new home is situated in St. Abbs, a small and picturesque village in Scotland along the coast with cliffs surrounding the area. While the shoot was on, nobody (other than the locals) were allowed to enter the village.

Have you been to all the Endgame locations yet?

Four kids find themselves within a realm of unresolved mysteries in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. While the town might have been fictional, the show was shot real time in Atlanta, Georgia. Remember the bits with Hawkins’ National Laboratory? The location for that is Emory University’s Briarcliff campus. All shots that involve the exteriors of the lab were filmed here. Currently, it’s easily accessible to the public and most definitely doesn’t look as eerie as it does in the show.

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (Breaking Bad)
The show’s most prominent feature was the location. The desert, where some of the major scenes of the show were shot, seems to be the trotters’ new favourite. Five seasons of the show were set in the heart of Albuquerque. Remember where Jesse and Clarke are cooking meth? Or that complicated train robbery? They were all shot here. Who knows this might be the shooting location for that feature-length movie that is rumored to be the sequel to the show.

CUSHENDUN CAVES, NORTHERN IRELAND (Game of Thrones)

Game of Thrones had us hooked till the very end. Do you recall the mystic caves where Melisandre gave birth to a shadow baby in Season 2? Well, unlike a lot of mysteries in the show, this one was easy to figure out. The Cushendun caves in Northern Ireland are where the scene was filmed. As mystical as they seem on the show, the caves get a fair amount of daylight and make for a beautiful walk.

STAIRCASE, NYC (Joker)
The psychological thriller was appreciated for many reasons and made it to various lists and charts. The iconic stairs in the movie where Joaquin Phoenix is seen walking, are sandwiched between buildings in the Bronx. The stairs are located near the 167th Street station on the New York City Subway's 4 train, connecting the Shakespeare and Anderson Avenues. This one can be easily spotted and is definitely worth your next Instagram picture.
