Winter is almost here. The cold season stirs up mixed reactions from people. However the common ground is the wonder we all feel about snowfall. If you've not yet seen the charm of powder-white snow, this list is for you. We bring you 10 places where you can have an unforgettable experience while witnessing your first ever snowfall.

Keylong, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh
Snow-capped Keylong

Situated in the valley of Lahaul Spiti, Keylong is a quaint town with a laidback lifestyle. Head to the valley for scenic landscapes, the warmth of people, and a blanket of thick, white snow.

Auli, Uttarakhand
This place is known for ski resorts and spectacular views of some of India’s highest peaks, including the Nanda Devi. A cable car system takes you all the way to Auli from Joshimath and ski-lifts take you to the snow-encrusted slopes.

Munsiyari, Uttarakhand
Alpine grass meadows at a small hamlet, Munsiyari

The eastern most district of Uttarakhand, bordered by Tibet, Munsiyari is the hub of skiing as well as other sports. You can indulge in a variety of winter sports here and make the most of your vacation.

Sikkim’s Valley of Flowers, Yumthang, is everything under one sky. Hot springs, rivers,  meadows and all that in the lap of the Himalayan mountains. Could it get any better? As soon as the first snow hits the ground, the place transforms into a charming winter wonderland. 

Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh
A misty morning at Tawang With Tibet in the north and Bhutan in the southwest, Tawang epitomises serenity. This land of high passes, waterfalls and lakes gets enveloped in white in the winters. If you wish to explore the east, we suggest you begin here.

Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh
Move over Shimla. Head to a higher altitude and you will find yourself in the bustling town of Narkanda. This town is the new Himachal paradise. Its snow-clad slopes and curving roads look like they are straight out of a retro film. 

Khajjiar, Himachal Pradesh
India's mini Switzerland Sometimes called India’s mini Switzerland, Khajjiar has a small town vibe and wins our heart every time. Katao, Sikkim
If a rugged terrain and an adrenaline rush gets you excited, Katao is your go-to place. Engage in everything snow, from snowboarding to skiing, snow tubing and snow grinding. 

Chopta, Uttarakhand

A quaint settlement in Himachal Pradesh, Theog nestles perfectly between Shimla and Narkanda. We say enjoy the New Year’s eve here admiring the tiny snowflakes that look like shooting stars.
