The country runs high on festivities and doesn’t ever disappoint when it comes to celebrations. And if you are one of those who like the soak in the festive fervour, October is the month for you. Constant chatter, the air heavy with the aroma of delicacies and dhaak beats is what pujo looks like in Kolkata. The pandals here, each and every one intrinsically decked up, are never ending. The city is decked up so much so that sometimes one can never make out whether they are in or out of one. If the idea of delectable maach, luchi, sondesh, sabudana papad, phuchkas excite you then you should head to Kolkata to let the city make you feel its love.

While there is Durga Puja in the east, Dusshera in the north, the west gets all set for Navaratri. The melody of Gujarati music and the perfectly tuned dandiya beats to it make for a perfect evening. Vadodara, especially is a delight during Navaratri celebrations. The vibrance and culture of Gujarat are truly a sight. Apart from this the local cuisine and the specifically designed Navaratri menu at various places will definitely add to the spirit. If you plan on dancing your way through the festive season, you have a clear choice. Our pick is United Way in Vadodara to enjoy the celebrations. Since the lawn here is tends to get filled fast we suggest you book your passes early on.

If solace in the hills is your idea of a festive feel, going for a trek should be on top of the list. Not enough snow and absolutely perfect weather makes it the best time for a trek. The weather this time round the year opens up the hills to a surreal atmosphere and comfortable trekking path. If lucky, one might also spot some animals in the wilderness. Different treks depending upon their difficulty level, climbing conditions and duration open up around this time, leaving you open to choices. We suggest the Har ki Dun trek as well as the Hampta Pass trek.

While the idea of celebrations differs for all, the month of October is surely an adventurous one for all!
