At one8 Commune, it is the philosophy that counts. It is the idea of eating together, of sharing food and drinks with your loved ones, all crammed around one table. It is the glue that binds all.

It wasn't surprising then that we were met by long broad tables in yellows and browns, plush cushion seating and an overall vibe of oneness. If a wall decorated by his signature isn't a sign enough, one8 is Virat Kohli's latest passion, combining his love for food and sports in an elegant way. one8 is no regular sports bar. Instead, it pledges to be a place where groups can hang out after work. And if the rumour mills are to be believed, an ideal brunch haunt where everyone will eat together, on one table.

One8 Commune's stylish decorAnd the idea works. one8 dabbles in many cuisines and there is something for everyone's tastes. There is clear demarcation for vegan and vegetarian and the first page lists out the cricketer's favourites. Their platters are the most sought after, and the portion for each dish is more than hearty making it easy to share.

one8 is big on mock meat, and we tried different varieties of it. As a vegetarian, I don't really crave meat, removing all need to try alternatives or "mock" versions of it. But this was a fun try. I tried two dishes: the mock meat taco and the tikka. One was spicy and flavourful, the other more subtle and creamy. Both seemed liked great renditions.

Food at One8 Commune isn't just pretty to look at, it tastes amazing tooI was most impressed by their Asian cuisine. The avocado and asparagus sushi with cream cheese was so, so good. I kept popping them in throughout the course of my meal. And the dumplings? Gooey but crunchy, served with truffle oil.

I do recommend their boozy concoctions; especially those made with gin. for instance, Virginia Rappe was an absolute delight. Their cocktails are fashioned for taste and style, mine came dressed in flowers in a mock-bronze glass.

Paired with this cocktail, came our Indian spread. A coconut curry from Kerala, chole and dal makhani with buttery nan and rice. With much enthusiasm, we dug in.

When it came to dessert though, we wanted to forget the one8 philosophy. Especially with the Five Rivers Mud Cake in front of us—made of layered chocolate, it was absolutely divine. We dare you to share it.
