Studying the stars have been an obsession for the ages. With technology thrown in the mix, not just star gazing, but photographing the beautiful skies have become extremely popular. When photographers manage to capture breathtaking pictures of the mesmerising Milky Way, it leaves viewers awestruck.

Here is a list of great star gazing locations around the wonder that is India through out the year. Just make sure to check the weather forecast prior to your advenute. So, thrill seekers and photographers, get ready to click!

PANGONG TSO, LADAKH

Whether it is bike rides, trekking or fulfilling other travel milestones, this place sneaks inside every travel bucket list. Witnessing those sparkling gems from the banks of Pangong Tso would be an experience of the lifetime. With ice peaked hills below and stars covering the sky, it can be perfect location for photographers. The lake is around five hours from Leh. The perfect time to encounter a clear sky is during the months of April, May, September and October.  

RANN OF KUTCH, GUJARAT

The salty marsh land of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat would be a great place to get a glance of the glittering stars. The panoramic view at dusk when the moon starts to spread the light over the wilderness with all its glory is an iconic sight travellers admire. The months of November till February would be the appropriate period for the visitors to explore the sky in the Kutch.

NEIL ISLAND, ANDAMANS

The group of islands offer some magical scenes at night. The exotic beaches of Neil Island can astonish you with its calm surroundings and the huge blanket of twinkling stars above it. Although it can rain unexpectedly, the months from January to April would give you the best of the islands and the sky.   

JAISALMER, RAJASTHAN

A walk through the sand dunes of Thar with stars guiding the way can be an exemplary experience. The silvery sky at nights in Jaisalmer gives star gazers a beautiful memory. Usually there is clear sky throughout the year, but visiting in the months of November to February would be better as the temperature drops and the place becomes easy to explore.
