Cherry Blossom Festival (Hanami)

Who said you have to go to Japan to see cherry blossoms? Los Angeles plays host to beautiful blossoms too. From the boisterous and flamboyant jacarandas to bright and gay California poppies, the City of Angels has it all. But before the jacaranda trees bloom and the California poppies begin to flower, Los Angeles greets the springtime with the cherry blossom festival season! The blooming of these blossoms means that it’s time to celebrate the Japanese culture of viewing the pretty foliage at a leisurely pace and finding magic in nature. Several gardens host cherry blossom viewing festivals, also known as Hanami. Guided walks are available at the popular Descanso Gardens all through March.
