Sapporo, the capital of Japan’s northern main island of Hokkaido, will hold its annual 7-day Snow Festival from February 8, 2016. A large number of splendid snow and ice sculptures will line the Odori Park, the grounds at Community Dome Tsudome, and along the main street in Susukino. Illuminations at the Odori Park will be turned on at sunset, and turned off at 10pm. The community dome in Tsudome Open 9am-5pm) is the second largest site of the Sapporo Snow Festival. This site includes very large snow slides and a snow rafting area outside the dome, as well as a refreshment and rest area. Under the theme of 'Enjoy the Ice', Susukino Ice World offers a fantastic ice sculpture show and the Ice Sculpture Contest. You can also visit the plaza, 'Fureai Hiroba' to touch or ride on the ice sculptures, take photos in the Illumination Street, or have hot drinks at the Ice Bar.
