The central government has recently proposed to further liberalise of the e-tourist visa scheme following on from the massive success of the initiative, which was launched in 2015. Since the start of the e-Visa regime, there has been a whopping 266% growth in in-bound tourists, so now plans are afoot for the e-tourist visa to allow travellers to stay for a period of 100 days. This will be a massive increase from the current provision which allows visitors to stay in India for 30 days. The government is also planning to introduce multiple entries for foreign nationals under the same scheme, according to an announcement by the Union Tourism Secretary, Vinod Zutshi.
