The Director General of the National Productivity Council, Sundeep Kumar Nayak, has been elected as the Vice Chair of the Asian Productivity Organization governing body for 2023-24. The election was held at the 65th session of the Governing Body meeting (GBM) of the Asian Productivity Organization at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in the last week of May, 2023.  

The APO’s GBM is an annual event where representatives from member economies discuss the organization’s strategic directions, policies, and programmes. The Governing Body (GB) plays a crucial role in shaping the organization’s priorities and ensuring its activities align with the needs and interests of its members.

Nayak, a career bureaucrat and member of the Indian Administrative Service, is a formidable climate warrior at heart and in action. Armed with three full-time Master’s degrees, one each from IIT Kharagpur, the London School of Economics and the Monterey Institute of International Studies California and numerous short-term academic programmes from premier institutes such as the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California at Berkeley,  as well as over 35 years of professional experience, Sundeep Nayak has been on a mission – to make NPC a knowledge and thought leader in the field of productivity and empower India’s global competitiveness. Nayak is also a is a well-known face in the cooperative circles and is the former Managing Director of National Cooperative Development Corporation.
