Siliguri, Mar 1 (PTI) Suhas Talukder, the founder editor of leading Bengali daily of north Bengal 'Uttarbanga Sambad' died in Kolkata today.

He was 71 and survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Talukder started his carrier as a teacher of economics at Raiganj College and launched 'Uttarbanga Sambad', the first daily of north Bengal, in 1980.

Talukder was also involved in social work, specially for starving tea garden workers. He, through his paper, also played a major role in raising funds for tsunami victims.
