TRS Chief Appeals for Clear Majority in Lok Sabha Polls

TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao today promised to waive farm loans up to the tune of Rs 1 lakh if his party is voted in to power in Telangana.

Rao said if elected as chief minister of the soon-to-be formed state, the first thing he would do was write off farm loans to provide relief to agriculturists.

"I will put my first signature on the file related to waiver of (up to) Rs 1 lakh loan to the farmers of Telangana."

Rao was speaking at a well-attended gathering at Husnabad town in the district.

The former union minister, in his 30-minute speech, launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying the party was largely missing during the Telangana statehood movement.

The Congress, while finalising the Telangana Bill, did not pay heed to certain demands of the TRS, he said, and asked voters to give his party a clear majority to allow the implementation of its programmes and policies.

He termed the alliance between the TDP and the BJP in Andhra Pradesh as a "conspiracy".

The TRS president promised to provide 12 per cent reservation for tribals in jobs and educational institutes and said weaker sections of society would live with respect in Telangana.

Rao said the dreams of the people of Telangana would be fulfilled if his party won all the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the region, which will attain statehood on June 2.

Rao was here to campaign for TRS candidates Vodithela Satish Kumar (Husnabad Assembly constituency) and Vinod Kumar (Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat).

Simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls will be held in Telangana on April 30.
