Abdul Jabbar, arrested for his suspected links with a Kashmir-based militant outfit, would be subjected to polygraph tests as part of investigations into the network of persons from Kerala having links with militants in Kashmir.

Thalassery Additional Chief Magistrate Court Judge V K Rajan has granted permission to the Special Investigating Team (SIT), probing the terror links to subject Jabbar now in judicial custody to undergo polygraph tests on January 5, SIT Deputy SP V K Akbar told PTI here today.

Jabbar was among the nine persons arrested for his suspected role in subversive activities and operating a terror network after an army encounter in Jammu and Kashmir in October last year.

However, Jabbar escaped from the custody of army in an encounter in which four youths hailing from Kerala were killed, giving credence to allegations that Kashmir-based militant groups have links in the southern states.

A month later he was arrested from Hyderabad, where Kashmir based ultra outfits reportedly used to hold camps for the newly recruited youths.

The links of persons from Kerala with militant groups came to light after the arrest of Abdul Jaleel last year as he admitted to have received several calls on his mobile phone from local youths Mohammed Fayas and Mohammed Fahiz before they got killed in the encounter.
