Telugu Desam leaders demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe here today into alleged irregularities and quid pro quo dealings in ‘Jalayagnam' projects initiated by the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajshekhar Reddy.
TDP leaders Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu and B Gopala Krishna Reddy alleged that the late Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Rajshekhar Reddy failed to irrigate even one acre of land, despite initiating 80 irrigation projects under
'Jalayagnam', which they claimed was undertaken merely "to get more commissions from contractors by releasing huge amounts as mobilisation advances”.
They also extended solidarity to Member of Parliament C M Ramesh Naidu, Member of Legislative Assembly Linga Reddy, Member of Legislative Council Satish Reddy and Putta Narasimha Reddy, who have been observing a hunger strike in front of Kadapa district collectorate since yesterday, to demand solutions to uncertain power supply, high cement prices and farmers' problems.
