Soren Campaigns for JMM Candidates in Mayurbhanj

A day after his Chief Minister son Hemant Soren's visit to tribal dominated Sundergarh district, JMM supremo Shibu Soren today addressed four election meetings in Mayurbhanj district where the party has fielded a Lok Sabha candidate and is contesting in seven assembly constituencies.

Soren addressed meetings at Udala, Sankhabahala, Bangiriposhi and Jamda under four Assembly constituencies of Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat.

"JMM is committed to safeguard the interest and development of tribals and strive hard to save them from being exploited", Soren said.

Belying expectations that JMM had been weakened in Mayurbhanj district after its state leadership had joined BJD in the run up to the twin elections, a large number of people attended these four meetings.

People from all age groups including women and children in their traditional attire and carrying bows and arrows came to the meetings were tribal music was played.

JMM state chief Sudam Marandi, district President Bhadav Hansda and state spokesman Krushnanda Mohanty had deserted the party along with their supporters to join BJD.

Soren did not say anything against Marandi, who was once considered his disciple, though all the contesting candidates accused him (Marandi) of 'back stabbing'.
