Police secure 15 days PC of drug lord Sharafat, MCOCA invoked
New Delhi, July 12 (PTI) Delhi Police today secured the 15 days police custody of Sharafat Sheikh, the city's most wanted drug mafia against whom stringent MCOCA was invoked to unravel his organised syndicate crime.

Additional Sessions Judge J M Malik extended the five-day police custody of Sheikh, who reportedly has links with the Bollywood stars, till July 26 after investiagting officer said his custodial interrogation was necessary to nab his other contacts involved in drug trafficking.

Prosecution said a detail probe was being carried to identify the properties worth crores acquires by the druglord through illegal means.

Police sources said Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked against Sheikh as it would help in the investigation process and it was even suspected that he was being involved in the flesh trade.

Sheikh was arrested by the Crime Branch on July seven in Nizamuddin area in south Delhi.

Five years ago, he started a beer bar in Mumbai. He frequented the Maharashtra capital and came in contact with number of film actors, the sources said adding he allegedly sold drugs to some of them.

He owned a number of properties in Delhi and Mumbai. Besides 28 cases under the Indian Penal Code and Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act, two cases under the National Security Act were registered against Sheikh for alleged smuggling activities.
