Now Dukhtaran-e-Millat steps in as moral police
Srinagar, Aug 30 (PTI) Donning the role of moral police, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, a separatist women's organisation, today stormed several hotels and restaurants in the city as part of its drive against flesh trade and other immoral activities.

A group of 20 women, led by Dukhtaran chief Syedasia Indrabi, barged into a hotel along the banks of famous Dal lake and destroyed several hundred bottles of wine, eye-witnesses said.

The women received support from common people who raised slogans against the administration.

Earlier in the day, Dukhtaran activists visited several hotels and restaurants in the city and asked owners to dismantle special cabins set up for couples, locals said.

Asserting the drive would continue, Indrabi said those who were trying to bring disgrace to society by indulging in immoral activities would be exposed.

She asked people to take steps to arrest moral degradation in society.

Dukhtaran-e-Millat came into prominence in early '90s when it launched a special drive to force women to cover their face while venturing out of their homes, However, the campaign fizzled out as locals, mostly working women, resented the move.
