Former sprinter Milkha Singh today ran with Ontario's Premier Kathleen Wynne, who is on a India visit, at Sukhna Lake here today.
"With this race, we have tried to send a message of friendship between India and Canada. This race will further boost amity between the two countries," Singh, one of the country's best known athletes, said.
Also known as the 'Flying Sikh', Singh called for more bilateral visits by the athletes of the two countries.
Amid tight security arrangements, the race started around 7:50 am on a chilly morning with Singh and Wynne running for a kilometre near the picturesque Sukhna lake.
They were joined by the adviser to UT Chandigarh Administrator, Vijay Dev.
Singh, during his visit to Canada last year, had met Wynne and invited her to visit Chandigarh.
The Canadian Premier is visiting India to attract investments for her province Ontario.
