Manik Sarkar Again Appeals to Insurgents to Give Up Arms

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today reiterated his appeal to the insurgents of the state to bid farewell to the arms to build up a prosperous, peaceful and developed state.

Unfurling the tricolour at the Assam Rifles ground here Sarkar said, "We are not complacent that there is no remnant of insurgency. It was not completely crushed though peace has restored and people were seeing the sign of prosperity. I once again appeal to them who are still roaming with guns to return home and bid farewell to arms to build up a prosperous state."

The chief minister said the state government's main priority is to build a prosperous and developed state where people live with communal harmony.

Criticising the NDA government at Centre, Sarkar said in last three months after the coming of the new government, 30 incidents of communal clashes took place which would hamper the communal harmony of the country.

Sarkar appealed to the Central government for further improvement of bilateral relation with the neighbouring Bangladesh for improvement of connectivity of the country's north eastern region through Bangladesh.

He also received the salute and guard of honour from the state security forces and central paramilitary forces.
