Mamata Asks Youths to Follow Swami Vivekananda's Ideals

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today exhorted the youths to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda to be a good human being.

She was addressing a gathering on the concluding ceremony of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at the Ramakrishna Mission and Math at Belur in Howrah district.

Describing Swami Vivekananda as an "youth icon", Banerjee said his teachings and ideals have spread throughout the world by the Ramakrishna Mission and Math.

The state government has dedicated two chairs in memory of the saint in the Calcutta University and the Presidency University, she said.

Banerjee also talked about various aspects of Swamiji's life to the 12,000 odd people who had come from all over the world on the occasion of the concluding ceremony.

A police outpost and a guest house were set up near the Belur Math complex, said the chief minister.
