J. Dey Murder Case: Tawade Demands CBI Probe

J. Dey Murder Case: Tawade Demands CBI Probe

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Vinod Tawade today demanded a CBI probe in senior crime journalist J Dey murder case.

"If the government is sincere enough and wants the truth to be revealed, they should hand over the J Dey murder case probe to CBI," Tawade told reporters here.

"What was the motive behind killing J Dey? Who all were involved in the murder, will be revealed if the probe is handed over to the premier investigation agency," he said.

Tawade also alleged that the state government is aware of the betting and match-fixing done during IPL matches, but is "turning a blind-eye" from taking any action.

"After the state government felt intense pressure post J Dey murder, they framed Jigna Vora in the case," he alleged.

The BJP leader had yesterday alleged that Dey, who was associated with a daily tabloid, was killed as he was about to expose the match-fixing in the Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, demanding the Maharashtra government to hold the Winter Session of the state Legislature for three weeks, Tawade said it would help the Opposition to put forth the issues at length.

"We will demand the government to hold the next Winter Session of the state Legislature for three weeks. We will make this demand in the Business Advisory Council (BAC) meeting," he said.

He also expressed disappointment over "unsatisfactory" replies by the government on issues like law and order, drought-like situation in the state, land scam and alleged financial irregularities in the construction of Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi.

The Maharashtra Legislature's monsoon session ended yesterday.

Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse alleged that Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan "has no control over his cabinet ministers".

"Earlier when the MLAs from Opposition parties used to express dissatisfaction, the Chief Minister would intervene, however this is not seen now," Khadse said during the joint press conference with Tawade.
