The Indian Medical Association (IMA) today appealed to doctors not to hire the services of singer Mika Singh in future and boycott all his functions.

"The Association has also written to the Prime Minister to come out with a central ordinance followed by a central act regarding assault on medical professionals while on duty," said Dr K K Aggarwal, Secretary General of IMA.

Dr Aggarwal said two recent incidents -- firstly in Allahabad where relatives of a patient assaulted Dr Rohit Gupta and secondly in Delhi where Singer Mika Singh slapped an eye specialist -- have shaken the medical fraternity.

The Association has also appealed to its 2.5 lakh members not to buy his music albums and CDs.

Police had on April 12 registered a case against Mika for allegedly slapping a doctor at a live concert in south west Delhi.
