File Report on Case Against Aseem Trivedi: Court to Cops
A local court has asked police to file a report on a case registered against cartoonist Aseem Trivedi here in January this year for allegedly denigrating national symbols after they failed to filed a charge sheet against him.

Principal Judicial Magistrate N R Mangire last week issued a notice to police in this regard, seeking a report on the case at the earliest.

Hanumant Upre of `Satya-shodhak OBC Parishad' had moved the magistrate's court when police did not register his complaint against Trivedi under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 over Trivedi's cartoons which allegedly insult the national emblem, Parliament, etc.

Beed police then filed a case on January 7 upon the magistrate's order.

Trivedi was arrested in a similar case by Mumbai police recently, and was charged with, among other things, sedition.

Bombay High Court, in response to a PIL, later granted him bail, questioning the application of sedition charge.
