Faisal Shahzad Had 'Links' in Tribal Belt: Malik
Pakistani-American terror suspect Faisal Shahzad, arrested in the US for a botched car bombing in Times Square, had "links" in the Taliban-dominated South Waziristan tribal region, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

An investigation into these links is underway though no one has so far been arrested, he said last evening.

"Faisal Shahzad had links in South Waziristan and his accounts are the focus of our investigation," Malik said.

Earlier media reports had said Pakistani authorities had detained 11 suspects, including an army major, for alleged links to Shahzad.

The US has blamed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan for the failed May 1 terror attack in Times Square in New York, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

30-year-old Shahzad had allegedly tried to blow up an explosives-laden SUV in a crowded area in Times Square. He was arrested two days later while he was attempting to leave the country.
