Delhi University Student Allegedly Raped in Ghaziabad

A Delhi University student was allegedly raped by one person this morning in Kavi Nagar here, following which the accused has been arrested, police said.

The incident took place around 10 am today when the girl, a student of B.CoM in Delhi University, was returning home from a cyber cafe after checking results of a competitive exam, they said.

According to a complaint lodged at Kavi Nagar Police Station by the father of the victim, the girl was kidnapped by two boys who took her to their home in Razapur area of Kavi Nagar.

The two, identified as Sachin and Lalit, took her to their house following which Lalit raped her and threatened her of dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone, police said.

Upon returning home, the girl informed her parents about the incident who then lodged a complaint with the police.

The girl was referred to government hospital for medical examination and a case under section 376 (rape) of IPC has been registered, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh said.

Accused Lalit has been arrested and search is on for Sachin who is absconding.
