Cong Encouraging Centre-State Conflicts: Bardhan
CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan today criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi for their speech on central assistance saying by doing so the party was trying to "encourage conflict" between the Centre and the states.

Stating that central assistance was "not anybody's property", Bardhan said, "we have a federal structure and in keeping with it, the Centre has to provide funds for the state."

"It is after all the hard-earned money of the poor people and tax payers and the states do have their right to share it ", he told a press conference

He further said whoever from the Congress campaigns in Bihar it was not going to help the party as it was "responsible for laying the foundation of the state's backwardness".

"Let the Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi campaign, it is not going to help the party", he said.

In a similar vein, he attacked Nitish Kumar government, besides the RJD and LJP for not carrying out the development of the state.

He described as "mere jugglery of figures" the projection of the growth rate at 11.5 per cent in Bihar and said how could it be possible when no major industry had come up in Bihar during the past five years.

The CPI leader said the people had identified the real face of the Congress, RJD, LJP and NDA leaders.

He also slammed Nitish Kumar for projecting his secular image and asked how could a person claim about his secular credential when he is an ally to a party to which Narendra Modi belongs to.
