Condolences for Loss of Lives in Air Crash
The Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V.Narayanasamy expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Air India Express flight crash at Mangalore today.

He told PTI the incident was `most tragic and unfortunate`. He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery of those injured.

Meanwhile, Puducherry Chief Minister V Vaithilingam expressed shock and sorrow over the loss of lives in the air crash.

Grief was also expressed by the BJP who hoped immediate steps are taken to provide relief to the survivors.

BJP Parliamentary Party Chairman L K Advani, Leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley respectively offered condolences to the bereaved families.

In a statement, Jaitley offered "deep condolences" on the grave tragedy on behalf of the party.

"We hope immediate steps are taken to provide relief to the survivors," Jaitley said here.

He said the party leadership was in touch with Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on the ongoing rescue operations at the Mangalore airport.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, BJP President Nitin Gadkari extended condolences to the bereaved families.

In a statement, BJP said Gadkari has advised the BJP-ruled Karnataka government to do its best in mounting relief and rescue operations and extend all possible assistance to the grief-stricken families.

Gadkari is presently on a tour of European countries.

Union Labour and Employment Minister M Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed shock over the aircrash.

Condoling the deaths, Kharge said the government has already announced relief to the affected.

It is an irreparable loss to the bereaved families,he said in his condolence message.

Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in the air crash.

'I am deeply shocked and grieved to hear about the Dubai Mangalore Air India plane crash at Mangalore in which many people have lost their life', he said in a statement here.

'I convey my sincere condolences to family members of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery', he said.

Opposition leader and AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalithaa today conveyed her condolences to the families of those killed in the air mishap.

"I wish to convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed in this disaster and pray to the Almighty for the speedy recovery of the injured", she said in her message.

State BJP President Pon Radhakrishnan in his message said he was shocked to hear the news of the crash.

He too conveyed his sympathies to the families of those killed.

As many as 160 persons were feared dead when an Air India Express flight from Dubai with 173 on board crashed and caught fire today as it overshot the newly built runway while landing at the Mangalore airport.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today expressed shock and grief over the crash of an Air India express flight at Mangalore Airport in which 158 persons were killed.

The Chief Minister said the air crash was shocking in which such a large number of passengers were killed on the spot. Rosaiah conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, according to a press release issued here today.

Kerala Governor R S Gavai today expressed deep shock and sorow at the air tragedy at Mangalore.

"I am deeply shocked and saddened at the tragic accident of Air India Experss at Mangalore airport that claimed many precious lives", Gavai said in a message here today.

"While sharing the profound grief of the bereaved, I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured", the Governor said.
