New Delhi, Feb 20 (PTI) Terming the publication of cartoons about Prophet Muhammad as "insensitive", Congress President Sonia Gandhi has said she shared the sense of outrage of the Muslim community.

Congress party has the greatest regard and respect for all faiths and is committed to protecting their rights and beliefs for preserving and strengthening the secular nature of our society, she said in reply to a letter written by Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid.

She said the Prime Minister's Office had issued a statement in this regard and the UPA government has conveyed its strong sentiments to the Government of Denmark through the Indian and Danish Ambassadors in respective countries.
