Replying to a question from reporters here on incidents where the PMK flag was found where Veerappan was buried and the party symbol in the hand of Sethumani, who was shot dead along with Veerappan, he said that deliberate attempts were being made to tarnish the image of the PMK.
He alleged that the special branch wing of Tamil Nadu Police was behind such incidents and that they "are working overtime" to link his party with the bandit.
Contradictory versions were emerging on the October 18 encounter near Dharmapuri, through statements of various NGOs, fact-finding human rights team, Veerappan's wife Muthulakshmi and also STF officials, Ramdoss said, adding that no authentic reports had come out so far.
He replied in the negative when asked whether his party would seek an inquiry into the entire episode, based on the claims of rights team. However, PMK endorsed the team's view for a high level inquiry, he said.
Taking exception to the proposed padayatra by ADGP and STF chief Vijayakumar, he said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police should explain whether this was within the framework of the code of conduct for government officials.
