Two Killed, Ten Injured in Grenade Attack by Militants

Two persons were killed and 10 others injured today when militants hurled a grenade at a crowded bus stand in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, which is going to polls in the third phase on December 9.

The grenade was aimed at a security patrol but it missed the target and exploded on the roadside at Tral bus stand, 35 kms from here this afternoon, police said.

Ghulam Hasan Mir (60) was killed and 11 others were injured in the blast which sparked off panic in the town.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where one of them, Mohammad Shafi Gujjar (26), succumbed to injuries this evening, the police said.

Soon after the blast, police assisted by security forces cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation.

However, no one was arrested in connection with the attack, the police said adding a massive hunt has been launched.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
