Chennai, March 23 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K.Palaniswami on Monday said an additional sum of Rs.500 crore will be allocated for preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

Announcing this in the state Palaniswami said a sum of Rs.60 crore was earlier allocated for preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the state and now an additional sum of Rs.500 crore has been sanctioned for the purpose.

He said the state is facing a challenge for the first time in 100 years and the government is taking all steps on war footing to prevent the virus spread.

According to him, the government hospitals have adequate facilities to treat the virus infected persons.

Palaniswami warned rumour mongers that severe action will be taken for spreading rumours about coronavirus.

Earlier state Health Minister C.Vijayabaskar warned of legal action against those who violate the self quarantine and the list of travellers have been given to district administration and police for tracking.

Vijayabaskar said though tracked, some of the travellers violate the government''s strict order to self quarantine and thus becoming a threat for community transmission of coronavirus.

He also said the Corona positives in Tamil Nadu clearly shows that people with travel history and travellers from abroad are victims.

He requested all those who had travelled abroad during the past one month must self quarantine and report to doctor if any coronavirus symptoms persists.
