New Delhi, May 27 (PTI) India's average mobile broadband speed ranking dipped to 121st position in April 2019 amid improvement in telecom services of some countries and some new entrants marking their presence with significant high speed, according to Ookla's Speedtest Global Index released Monday.
The country was ranked 120th in the same segment in March with average mobile broadband speed of 10.30 megabit per second (mbps) and 112th a year ago with speed of 9.1 mbps, according to the index.
Countries like Norway, Canada, Netherlands made entry in April 2019 index with average broadband speed of over 60 mbps each.
Norway topped the chart with 65.41 mbps average mobile broadband speed.
India's immediate neighbour Sri Lanka with average mobile broadband speed of 24.04 mbps and Pakistan with 13.39 mbps speed were ranked higher at 63rd and 110th position, respectively in the index.
Improvement in network speed in European countries -- Bosnia and Herzegovina and Belarus, Caribbean country Haiti and Africa's Uganda -- also pushed down ranking of India in April 2019.
India's ranking in fixed broadband speed with average download speed of 29.25 mbps remained at 68th position in April, compared to its performance in March. PTI
