On Wednesday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha cast his vote at the Maharani Tulsubati Girls' High School in the Town Bordowali assembly constituency.
The northeastern state recorded a 14 per cent voter turnout by 9 am on Thursday, with the polling process essentially being peaceful in the first two hours, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarrao. The exercise began at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm across 3,328 polling stations including 1,100 sensitive and 28 marked critical amid high-security cover.
Saha expressed his confidence in the BJP after casting his vote for the state assembly polls, saying that he is confident that the party will form a government. He also slammed the "unholy alliance" between Congress and the Left, stating, "We want peaceful voting. People ask me what the challenge before me is. The challenge is that the rivals (Congress-Left) that have come together."

The northeastern state has witnessed top leaders step up their electoral spadework over the past few days. Tripura will see a triangular fight this time, with the BJP-IPFT coalition seeking to retain supremacy, the Left-Congress combine looking to wrest power, and regional outfit Tipra Motha making its debut at the hustings after its stunning performance in the autonomous council polls.
