A light and sound service shop, owned by C Pragilesh, also the leader of Yuva Kala Sahitya and a local CPI functionary, was found destroyed on the night of January 1.
"The boxes in which the lights were kept, the welcome boards prepared for the temple festivals etc. were all destroyed by fire at night," said Pragilesh.
He charged that some persons were irked and enraged over the social media posts he had put up praising the newly-released movie revolving around Lord Ayyappa.
They allegedly threatened Pragilesh on social media to attack the shop, police said. Several newly-made boards and decorative lamps kept near the shop were damaged in the attack, they said.

"There were some debates on social media recently after I put up some posts praising the movie. Following that, some of the social media users threatened to attack me and my shop," Pragilesh said.
Perumbadappu police said that it registered a case on Tuesday for property destruction under Indian Penal Code Sections 427 and 435. Investigation is going on with regard to the charges raised by the owner.
