India Records 2,226 New Covid-19 Cases, Kerala Reconciles 63 Previously Unreported Deaths

India reported 65 deaths on Sunday, but only two were from the past 24 hours. The other 63 were previously unreported deaths added to Kerala's toll.

India on Sunday reported 2,226 new coronavirus infections and 65 deaths, according to an update from the Union health ministry. 

Of the 65 deaths, only two were reported in the last 24 hours, which included one each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The other 63 deaths were previously unreported deaths from Kerala reconciled to the state's toll. 

With these numbers, India's total Covid-19 tally rose to 4,31,36,371, and the death toll climbed to 5,24,413. 

Active cases dipped to 14,955 with a decrease of 41 cases in the span of 24 hours, comprising 0.03 per cent of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.75 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.50 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.50 per cent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,25,97,003 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.22 per cent. 

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 192.28 crore.
